Believe it or not, we have been dealing with smoke from those fires all the way up in the North Woods for a good part of the Summer. Given how dense it has been here on some days, I can only imagine what it has been like for those with respiratory issues. A great family owned BMW Dealership, Hansen’s in Medford, Oregon, burnt to the ground not too long ago. They had virtually no warning, and lost everything.

Hopefully they were fully insured and your GS was home squabbling with the Triumph.
Unfortunately Bentley Motorrad (BMW, Triumph, Ducati) in Kelowna is closing. Not much about it (nine posts?) on advrider regional forum.
Motovida in Kelowna (Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and some scooters) closed in 2019. Hope it's not a sign...

I remember people "reading" the short term weather by watching the sky, watching the glass, wind direction etc. Pretty much a lost art now.

Observations help and can often give you a pretty good idea (in general) of what is on the way. More than once I have seen the forecast, looked outside and came to the conclusion that the forecasters are full of it.
My problem with the radar (or lack thereof) was specifically when I was trying to pack up camping gear at Frenchman's Cove down on the Burin. I knew that scattered showers and intermittent heavier rain were forecast but I needed a "window" of a half hour or so to take down the tent and get stuff into my dry duffle bag. Once the fly is off the tent, you pretty much have to get it done ASAP. The wind was from the west-southwest and the sky was a bit brighter in that direction so when the current shower subsided, I went for it. (I was wrong.)
Pretty much the same situation at the top of the Northern Peninsula (Pistolet Bay). Rained heavily during the night and tried to take advantage of a lull to pack up. I got a little wet that time but managed to successfully dodge thundershowers all day so it evened out. (Marble Mountain radar doesn't go all the way to the top of the NP; I wonder if the new radar will have better range when they get around to replacing it in a year or two.)

Special weather statement for west coast. Accumulating snow possible for higher elevations. Too early for that shit!
Looks decent later in the week across the province. Cool and windy here in NB and cold overnight lows for Sunday and Monday.
Summer really feels like it is totally over at this point. One or maybe two more lawn mowings and then time to service the snowblower.
While I sometimes ride into early December, I rarely go very far after the first of November.
Hope to get one more trip to Halifax and NS south shore. (next week??)

I use them to judge speed of the rain that is incoming. That shot looks like they are picking up fog in Placentia bay.

A5A72CB9-4A84-4EE8-B91E-BBA0674C7896.jpeg Looks like we got about four inches of snow overnight.
The high temperatures are predicted to be around freezing for the balance of the month.
The Riding Season may have come to a quick end here in the Great North Woods...

Wow! I was going to post a rant about the new tar snakes in my neighbourhood for my ride in to work this morning but I will shut up now.

Winter weather outlook for Canada. From Accuweather.
    https://www.accuweather.com/en/weat...-pattern-update-and-the-winter-outlook/834422
Warmer and more snow than normal for most of Newfoundland. NB looks like warmer and "normal" snowfall.

Trash: Not what we want to see!! Atlantic Canada is still doing OK - no snow yet although some overnight freezing temperatures. We are supposed to have some days in the upper teens the rest of this week and then getting cooler...
