DR650 Pick-up Coil Replacement

Damn. Was just getting ready to go for a ride last Saturday and Stephanie's DR which normally fires up the instant you even think of hitting the starter button totally refused to fire, and didn't even make any firing sounds at all the whole time we tried it.

There's been a lot of talk on ADVRider about this pick-up coil and how it can fail in a minute, leaving you stranded without a spark, so I figured that might be where to start looking.

I went for a short ride on my own on my DR and when I got home I tore the tank and seat off, and found no spark initially, then a weak spark, then none, and now it seems to have stopped trying. I wiggled connectors including the white one under the tank. There was Dielectric grease in all the junctions already.

I have the official manual and ran a number of continuity tests and the green/blue wires from the pick-up coil look like they have a lot more resistance than they should have, and a test on the same wires of one of my other DRs shows no resistance on that bike, so I think I've found the problem.

One can get a pick-up coil from RM Stator for $39 Cad. There are other places to buy from but this is reasonably close to us so I called and ordered two.
