So I went to my local mom and pop dealer yesterday to get a tire swapped...been using these guys for a decade...walk in with my new tire in one hand and my rear rim in the other.

I immediately get a look...followed by, what are you looking to get done....as if it's not obvious. I said just looking to get a tire swapped and balanced.

Oh we don't do that anymore unless you buy tires here....(new policy for '24)

This immediately annoyed me and I picked up my tire and rim to leave and they said they would do it for me this one time....like they are doing me a big favour.

In my head, I've done them a big favour by giving them $1000's over the last decade for stuff I am capable of doing my self. We've had major services on the bmw and Ducati done there, a dozen tire changes, out of prov inspections.....fork rebuilds etc......now you're going to squeeze a few more bucks out of me by forcing me to buy tires there if I want them swapped?

Seems like a lame move to me but I'm sure a lot of shops and dealers are prob doing the same thing.

Anyway, looking into some budget but good gear to aid in changing and balancing my own tires ( I don't even own tire spoons ) Probably something I should have been doing long ago, it just seemed convenient to have a shop do it.

Getting nickel and dimed on everything is getting old. End of rant.
