Raid Warning

Hi Folks,

I should be headed your way, starting out 8/2 with a 5 week budget. Travelling solo, but more than happy to meet riders along the way and would love to hook up with local guide(s) around the island - I can't get properly screeched on my own. ;)
The intentions are to do the TLH there and back and spend as much time as possible exploring the island.

Background:
A trip to The Rock has been on my radar almost from the day I got back from a short loop I made from home to Alaska and back in 2000. ;)
A planned attempt in 2009 had to be abandoned because the KLR I had picked up for the purpose just didn't work for me. I settled for NB, PEI, and NS on the VFR instead.
I picked up a new Tiger 800 XC this spring (a 2013 leftover from last year), so I'm well mounted. Note, I had a deprived youth with no dirt bike exposure and I don't bounce well anymore, so this trip is limited to roads. Gravel/dirt roads are fine, but single-track, water crossings, and such other venues that have never seen a grader are not on the menu. :D

I've done a fair amount of research and have a general plan of sites to see and hope to hit as many of the road accessible peninsular points as possible in the time available (probably about 12 days on the island). I don't have a set itinerary, I let weather, mood, happenstance, and tire wear shape my travels, plotting more concrete routes a day or two in advance.

Query:
Speaking of tire wear, the one question I have is in regards to tire availability. I'm starting out with a fresh set of IRC Full-bores (maybe a 70/30 road/dirt tread pattern), but have no prior experience with them. Hoping for the best, but planning for the worst - are suitable tires generally available in St. John's or elsewhere on the island or in Labrador should I need to replace one for the trip back?
150/70/17 rear, 90/90/21 front.

Thanks.
Greg
