OK. School me on cats...

Catalytic converters that is.
The Norden 901's exhaust is sitting on the bench and I've been wondering about a cat replacement pipe.
I've priced a Leo Vince cat replacement pipe for around $310.00 local and would keep the cat for when I sell/trade the bike. Some catty questions:

1) What are the pros/cons of cat removal?
2) Any warranty issues if you remove the cat while under warranty?
3) Any spendy tuning issues or fault codes to deal with post cat?
4) Will the cat delete pipe actually reduce the heat in that area (directly under the shock) or just push more heat further out to the exhaust pipe to damage the soft bags?
5) The 901 has the spark arrestor in the cat, where can I find provincial guidelines regarding cats and/or spark arrestors?
6) Can I decat the bike and weld a fine mesh stainless screen spark arrestor over the exhaust outlet and still be legal?
7) Local ORV owners say the authorities won't ticket and tow you in BC as long as they can't poke a stick into your exhaust pipe, any similar trail side tests done in NL?
Thanks.
