It has been a long time since I have been on the site, but I have a note from my Doctor explaining my absence.

"All of the Gear, All of the Time" is a slogan to live by, and it probably saved my life back on May 28, when I got hit by a deer running full speed out of the woods as I was riding by at 60mph on Mrs. T's little Honda CRF250L. I was thrown airborne at impact with the front wheel, and landed on my face and right front shoulder, as you can see from the photo of my armored jacket. I slid so far down the asphalt, that even my riding gear eventually wore through, but I am certain that I wouldn't be here today were it not for that gear. The accident happened less than three miles from my house. The final tally was 6 fractured ribs, broken collarbone, dislocated shoulder, punctured lung, and road rash on my right leg where the stitching on my pants wore through, exposing my leg. Thank God I finally switched to a flip-face helmet a couple of years ago, after using open face helmets previously. Remarkably, I didn't even get a headache from the impact.

After 8 weeks of recovery, I am finally approaching normal again, but the dual sport motorcycles have already been sold. We are reserving judgment on the fate of the touring bike for a later date...

Either way, its great to be alive!
