Some of you may be aware that the Airheads organization has chapters around North America celebrating all airhead Beemers. We now have the newest chapter in Newfoundland and Labrador and it also happens that I was nominated as the first Air Marshall for the chapter.

Besides Murph do any of you have Airheads? Any suggestions for other forums etc to dig out more airhead owners to start building our chapter? So far we have a whopping 2 members.

They too have a website and forum, I am the same me there. Check out Airheads.org

    Congratulations on your nomination, Mike!
Perhaps the Toy Box can supply you with the names of other Owners.
There are certainly a lot of classic BMWs still out there.

Interesting. Both you and damurph can represent the clubs values for sure. Hopefully some others will as well:

    Club Canons
    1. Airheads ride Beemers with air-cooled heads.
    2. Airheads believe that the simplest engineering solutions are the best.
    3. Airheads appreciate function over form, fact over fiction, and friendship over friction.
    4. Airheads regard money as a tool, not a status symbol.
    5. Airheads are earthy people who like to camp.
    6. Airheads maintain their own motorcycles.
    7. Airheads don't take themselves, religion or life too seriously.
    8. Airheads like to share time, knowledge, parts and camaraderie with other Airheads

A good buddy of mine Rides a classic 2001 BMW R1200C ... dunno if he's a member of the local Airheads group or not, but he has, in the past, participated in a number of group rides with other local Beemer riders ...

The 1200C is not an airhead. I'll be looking for another airhead one of these days if I ever have the cash

We will not limit the B&B to just airheads, you're welcome back any time.

    For the unaware;
Airhead flat twin boxer motors were made by BMW from 1923 to 1984 when the K-Bike was introduced. They even sold the "Last Edition" RT in special colours but before long the die hard airhead fans had convinced corporate office that they could still sell them along with the new fuel injected liquid cooled K model in enough numbers to maintain the profits. I believe the last airheads were mid 90s when the oilhead (oil-air cooled) took over the production lines. Next came the Hexhead but it was merely a refinement of oil-air cooling the motor. In order to obtain new euro spec fuel efficiency requirements the company now uses a liquid cooled boxer.
I no longer own an airhead.
