2 Master Links in Chain?

Hey all, a friend of mine emailed me asking for advice on a drive chain thats to short and asking if its ok to have 2 master links.

This is the email he sent me. What do you guys think?

Just finished Matt's quad, new bearings in rear axel, new bearings & shaft in swing arm. Problem now that everything is tightened up the chain is to short, one double link. I guess the chain was cut short by previous owner, probably led to premature wear of bearings. Factory spec calls for 104 links & this chain is 102, you can only install a double link. The chain had one master clip type link, & we have additional section of chain (6"). This is a 520 "0" ring chain. The question is can we install 2 master links, can they be installed together, or say 6" apart with the piece of chain. Read on line all kinds of answers from "no problem" to "don't do it". Have you or any of your buddies had any experience with this type of issue. The other thing that comes up is clip master links vs. rivet type master links & which should be used, rivet links require a special tool, are you aware of these tools & do you know anyone who has one. Never knew joining a chain was such a complicated issue.
