Header Dent

I posted on ADVRider (Parallel Universe) but thought I would post here as well...

I bought my 2017 F700GS with 41,000 km on it last year. I looked over pretty carefully but my inspection did not include removing the bash plate. After putting 6,000 km on it between last fall and this spring, I decided it was past time to change the oil and filter. Took off the bash plate and discovered a pretty deep dent in the header pipe!!

Of course, it is under the bash plate and invisible in a casual inspection. (Who would expect a dented header UNDER a bash plate?) Oil drain plug was way overtight as well.

I bought the bike from someone who never took it off-road and only put 1000 km on it in a year. She bought it from a BMW dealer who also did an oil change/inspection etc. The dealer HAD to have known about the exhaust (unless they didn't change the oil as they said they did) but did not disclose it to the buyer. (They are also the ones with the shop gorilla that tightened the oil drain plug. I'm guessing the original owner bought the bash plate to hide the damage before trading it in! (Wonder why I rarely have anything nice to say about Motoplex?)

Anyway, I need some advice as to what I should do (if anything). The engine seems to run OK and there has never been any overheating. With the oil change, the magnet in the drain plug just had a bit of the normal black fuzz on it - no chunks or evidence of a problem. I haven't (yet) measured the temperature of each of the two downpipes during operation to see if there is a large difference. I guess I am more concerned about long-term damage to the engine due to increased backpressure.

Doing nothing is free - at least for now
New OEM exhaust is $1870 CDN
:(

Chinese knockoff is $255 USD (incl shipping) - anyone tried one of these?

It also has a dent, but a small one

Can this be pushed out from the inside (with heating) - by someone who knows WTF they are doing? (Or do they drill a hole for a hook, heat and pull?)
Can the section be cut out and a new piece welded in?

Couple of crappy photos for your entertainment... I would guess cross-section area reduced by maybe 25%.

Thanks
