A short spin for new roads

Sooo, I came up with taking a 3 day run to check out some roads I've never seen. My thoughts were head up the Baie Verte peninsula seeing as I'd never turned up that road. Looking at the forecast I decided to head out on what looked to be the warmest days. Come on Friday!

Up at a decent hour I hit the road at close to 08:00 on my way west. I wore my Klim Adventure suit figuring it had decent protection and is waterproof, turns out when I hit Hants Harbour the precipitation was gonna start with some drizzle.

I kept running and the drizzle gave me a bit of rain too. No worries, I'm clad head to toe in Gore Tex. Give 'er! Super nice to find the signal light pods deflected the rain from my hands so they were dry.

I was in Hearts Delight and a guy walking franticly pointed at me so I pulled over ASAP to have a look. What do I see? My right hand pannier was bouncing along held only by the strap I'd put on around it. I'm thankful as otherwise the bag would have been gone and I wouldn't have noticed until Whitbourne.

A bit of damage and scuffed on the front. Good thing I use my Ortlieb rolltops inside so nothing moving.

I think to myself what does this portend? And I hop on and keep going.

From here I have a pretty uneventful doodle along the highway except the precipitation was intermittent almost until Gander but getting west was better until I turned right to head to Baie Verte where I stop and chat with a couple of guys on bikes out for a spin from Springdale. One on a BMW 1600 GT and another on some cruiser thing. They warned me the road to La Scie could be a bit rough. Off I went.

La Scie is pretty to roll into

I went up to the lookout you can see the road to centre right. It's nice.

It was a decent day on the road and happily not so far as Port Aux Basques
