    Tars

With shipping (at the time) they were a little cheaper than FortNine. Shipping to Fredericton NB was $36. I'll have to see how much they want for them now... I'm betting they are way up from last year.

Yeah, for some reason tire prices have gone nuts this year. I have a set waiting in the wings for my FJR (bought a year ago) and the Trailmax Missions I have for the F700GS have lots of life left in them. Will probably end out with a double hit on tires next year - maybe a triple hit if I use...

What did you do to your bike today?

If you can avoid it, don't use the RAM ball extension in the lower left of the above photo. I was using one for my GPS and it suffered a fatigue failure. Never got hit hard or bent at any point. Maybe I just got a bad one...

    Bike Tools

Saw a neat little ratchet on Ali. 72 tooth ratchet with 1/4" drive on one end and a bit wrench on the other. Not bad for $10.06, shipping included Ratchet Edit: Another link for the same one for $5.32 but shipping ($2.76) applies for orders less than $10. So get two and give one to a friend...

    Tars

Yeah, I could be looking at that much (29,000 km) or more. I'll keep an eye on them and report back later. Depends a lot on road surfaces in addition to total payload, temperature and riding style. GSA is certainly heavier but I can't compare the other factors. Still, it is a remarkably...

Just checked - I have 12,000 km so far on my Trailmax Missions and there is AT LEAST that much left... As they say, YMMV.

    Weather!!

Pssst! There is an eclipse thread here already... https://ridetherock.com/index.php?threads/2024-solar-eclipse-april-8-2024.2313/ Our forecast "Major" snowstorm and weather warning amounted to about 10 cm of snow but with rain during the night. Temperature dropped before dawn so snowblowing...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I have a little solar cell for charging a battery pack that came with a Nelson Rigg tank bag but I don't bother with it. I find it easier to charge a powerbank via a USB plug on my bike while riding. I like your lanterns but would probably opt for a version with a USB rechargeable battery or...

    Weather!!

When I viewed the eclipse in Halifax in 1970, eye damage wasn't an issue - solid cloud (after traveling from Sackville NB on a school field trip to see it). Did a bit of a search and found an article discussing the 2017 eclipse which cut a path across the continental US - partial eclipse in...

Only 17 days left. Make sure of delivery date when you order... (I saw some with an expected delivery date on or after April 8.)

    Weather!!

Winter has reared its ugly head this week! A few cm of snow yesterday and cold overnight with lots of wind. Mostly sunny, windy and unseasonably cold (-8°C) right now. Calling for 20-50 cm of snow overnight and into tomorrow - amounts will depend on location within NB. We were down to...

Looks like fun, as long as you didn't have to ride it any distance on a highway to get somewhere. You wouldn't spend much money on gas.

Went for a ride today...never ending hi-jack thread

I got out again for the fourth time this year. Close to 1000 km so far by the middle of March!! Quite cool today with temperatures averaging around 6 or 7°. Mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles of rain but my friend with a brand new TransAlp wanted to get out for his inaugural ride. I must...

    R1300gs

Kind of cool when things are working right but an expensive nightmare when things go wrong. Almost impossible to troubleshoot as an owner without BMW diagnostic software and BMW does not make shop manuals available for any of their motorcycles. (No aftermarket manuals either for anything after...

Mine didn't take long from Amazon, but be careful to check delivery date before ordering... You can always make a simple pinhole projector viewing device... https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/make-pinhole-projector.html I think I'll put one together in addition to direct viewing with glasses...

Wow! Is he riding back and is something of a ride report available somewhere?

    Weather!!

I bought a half dozen pairs of cheap aluminized Mylar glasses with cardboard frames from Amazon at around $2 per pair. Supposedly ISO certified (whatever that might mean) and safe for eclipse viewing. Media made in USA but units are assembled in China. We are fairly near the edge of the path...

    Weather!!

It appears that the weather drama experienced across the country (especially in the east) has subsided to "normal". No weather warnings or watches across the country, just a couple of air quality (particulate) and one fog "Special Weather Statements" in BC. Not even much precipitation anywhere...

    R1300gs

I have a friend in Winnipeg who just bought one. At this point, it is sitting in his garage waiting for weather. Lighter is nice, but the more compact cockpit wouldn't make me happy. Lots of widgets means lots of stuff to go wrong. Still, I would like to have a close look to see what I am...
