Went for a ride today...never ending hi-jack thread

Well this is the earliest we’ve ever ridden in a season, and the warmest start of the season ever for us here near Ottawa. We saw 17° C at one point today. Stephanie and I went for lunch in Westport and coffee at the Bastard Coffee House in Delta.

Probably should have said, I only went about 40km. But they were fun.

    Garmin Montana 700 For Sale

I bought this in December from a seller on Facebook Marketplace. It works perfectly and has the latest firmware and maps installed. The Montana 700 has TopoActive routable maps built in. The device has Bluetooth and WiFI built in and can receive notifications and map updates and even...

Went for a ride today...never ending hi-jack thread

It’s not often you get out in February near Ottawa but +3° C on the 12th was too tempting for me.

I find with the zumo, if I want to choose a destination over lunch I just look it up in Garmin Drive and then send it to the XT. No need to remove it from the bike. I have the Touratech mount so it's locked up while I am in restaurants.

    GPS

I have a Garmin DriveAssist 51, an automotive navigator with a dashcam built in. The battery is at the end of its useful life. When it's not connected to power, the low battery warning comes on after about 5 minutes. I ordered two batteries from sellers on Amazon and both were wrong. One had the...

That's not a great reason for staying in the gps dark ages. You could always sell the mount.

Stephanie’s old Montana 650 started having black lines across the display so she’s been using my Montana recently. But the other day I started wondering what Garmin would do about the display issue. Suffice it to say they don’t fix old Montanas anymore, but they did give us 20% off a new Montana...

Went for a ride today...never ending hi-jack thread

Another beautiful day to ride in Ontario. Waiting for the Narrows Lock bridge on the Rideau Canal to be free. And motoring right along, following Stephanie.

    Chrome Won’t Get You Home

I'm more concerned about the wiring sitting on the rear exhaust pipe.

Speaking of Viragos, this 750 blasted by us today, then waited for us at the next stop. It’s owned by the guy who built our Firebird wheels last winter. Bill Back created this many years ago as a Kenny Roberts styled flat tracker in black and yellow livery. It was featured in Cycle Canada’s...

Bit of a contrast here. The Virago was attracting a lot of interest.

You should listen to your bike - if the chain is too tight, you'll hear it. If it's too loose, you'll also hear it. But you have to be listening to it.

What are you using for chain lube? I have over 50,000 on the original chain and sprockets on my VStrom 650. We use Castrol MC Chain Oil, sold at Canadian Tire, Walmart and Home Hardware. It's messy, but it works.

The chain size for that bike is #520. Should be easy enough to find.

Your sprocket is worn but I have seen worse. I see a place called Garage Gilbert Gauthier at 1573 Boul du Sacré-Coeur, St-Félicien. Is that where you are? I am french, so perhaps I could call them and translate for you?

What did you do to your bike today?

    The oil tank is aluminum.
