    2011 BMW F650GS... (2017 BMW F700GS)

The secret with chain wax is to apply it after a ride, so it sets up before the next ride. At least that's what works for me....

    2011 BMW F650GS... (2017 BMW F700GS)

I wouldn't get myself too wrapped up in what you read on the Forums. The vast majority of Owners without problems have no reason to post up. I think that it's useful to be aware of items that are worthy of attention, but not to the point of worrying about issues that might never present...

    KTM 890

If that is indeed true, I'm glad I didn't wait any longer for its introduction before buying the 390 instead.

Methinks once you've had the chance to ride a motorcycle with properly sorted "electronic aids" your opinion might change. ;)

I don't know if Camel still sells an auxiliary tank for the F700GS, but I had it on mine and it was an awesome addition, extending my range to almost 300 miles. If I remember correctly, the Capacity was something like 1.8 gallons, which brought total Capacity to 6 gallons, which was more than...

    2011 BMW F650GS... (2017 BMW F700GS)

There's not enough space here to post a reply to that question. From Chicago and back I accumulated 10,068 miles in three weeks on a single set of Bridgestone Battle Wing (90/10 tires), although I was definitely into the wear bars when I got home. All told, I would guess that 20 percent of that...

Not to mention running out of fuel and scrambling to flip the petcock into reserve mode whilst in the middle of a pass... In those days it was just part of the deal. Nowadays it's grounds for a "Stop Sale". :p

I suspect that his comment is a reflection of his age more than anything else. Old farts like us tend to think that way about advancing Technology. I think that it is pretty significant that the Folks at MC Cruise have gotten reports of the same "Glitch" from other Owners, and that it's most...

When I decided that I was going to head to Alaska and the Arctic Circle for my 55th birthday, I bought a used BMW R1200GS, and then spent some time at what was then our cabin in Northern Wisconsin doing nothing but riding the Forest Roads in the area (there are a lot of them). For those that...

What did you do to your bike today?

After seeing the effects of the road rash after 50k miles of riding on my Triumph Trophy, I decided to order a PPF Kit from Cyprus (of all places) for the RT. I was amazed that it showed up via FedEx three days after I ordered it. I might be crazy, but I'm going to begin the application process...

The advice was given over the phone, and the resulting spark was indeed quite small. I sent an email to the great guys at MC Cruise Controls in Australia yesterday to ask if anyone else with their Cruise Controls had experienced the same issue, and was quite surprised to get a phone call from...

On Thursday I headed out on the KTM to meet up with my friend Jan and ride to a Blues Festival in Durand. I was about a half hour from home when, as I was completing a pass, my throttle quit working, and the "check engine" light illuminated. I immediately coasted to the side of the road and...

My personal experience with BMW Dealers over the last 22 years hasn't been much different from every other brand I've dealt with, before or since. There are some really good Dealerships out there, some really bad ones, and most of them are somewhere in the middle. I've said this before, and I'll...

Those Motobatt batteries come highly recommended by the Independent Service Shop in town. They sell a boatload of them to ATV'ers who are notoriously neglectful of maintenance, and Chuck the Owner says he's never had a warranty claim since he's been selling them.

From a quick internet search, it looks like the engine guards were made by a company called Beemer Parts. I'm not familiar with them, but why replace them if they appear to be serviceable?

What did you do to your bike today?

I installed my newly acquired Ilium Handlebar Risers and Suburban Machinery Lowered Footpegs on the RT. I had to rent a mechanical press from Ilium in order to remove the hand grip posts from their bores. I would never have gotten them out otherwise. The transformation in comfort was...

I decided to do some exploring in the Chequamegon National Forest on the KTM today. Some of the "roads" start out as thick loose gravel, transition to two track, and eventually end at a gate.

Did you Folks take a dip in the Hot Springs at Liard River, and did you see any Grizzly Bears there? Some sections of the hot springs were incredibly hot, and I did see a couple Grizzlies when I camped there years ago. I was told by an employee that the Grizzlies were common due to the location...
