They're talking about the book 1984 on BBC right now
Think I’m going for an afternoon ride.
I hear Versys Rob has a nice place for a dip.
all bikers welcome at my place, but males please bring swimming trunks!!! Females, please don't. Murph is bringing some Aussie friends this weekend.
PM me your location and I’ll try and swing by the weekend.
Just rode the loop clockwise, pavement the whole way. There is about 1km left to be paved in the opposite lane. I suspect it will be finished by Monday.
Hosted Brett737cap from advrider on Sat-Sun. We dropped into Trinity where he found a boat like his, popped into Elliston to see the puffins, and then Bonavista for Lunch before riding back on the Bonavista Bay side.
He later sent me a pic he took of our Prime Minister and Provincial Premier at brekkie so maybe he'll comment on that elsewhere.
Went for a ride yesterday on the GSA. 'Twere a shakedown spin as it was the first time it has seen daylight this season. Shameful really. I knew there was something I was forgetting and when I went to merge onto the highway at the bottom of my hill I figured out the mirrors were still in the topbox at home. Dummy.
When I hauled them out this morning the bugslime had caused the paint some distress so today I cleaned them up and painted them before reinstalling.
Gonna head out to see skibum in New Melbourne after a I finish my coffee. Last time I saw him was back country skiing in Gros Morne.
Should be a good day
Nice visit with Inmate skibum69 (Mike) and his partner Sarah today. Both have done a lot of work planning, renovating, gardening, building, drilling an artesian well and doing forest management on their acreage to develop their motorcycle specific accommodations.
All this while squeezing in presentations at the BMW rally in Tennessee recently and attending the upcoming Cro-mag and another rally in the States later this Fall to promote their enterprise.
And we all know doing this while working 'off shore' is piece of cake right? Right. Oh yeah, and planning a return ride to Mongolia in a year or two just because... And last but not least, holding what he calls a mini Soiree at their place this weekend.
No, wait... I should mention that his KTM 640 ADV and KTM 525 are in various stages of re-assembly, but I won't do that because just thinking about it grinds me.
Plus tomorrow (Tuesday) holds yet another surprise which he may decide to share later...
Mike and Sarah, you humble me. All I got to do is change the fluids and filters on my GT and I'm good for another riding season. I'll post a few pics of the Shag Rocks (because Dildo is so over rated recently... see what I did there?), Mike's shed: the roadside view, other pics of Mike's shed which he claims is still undergoing character development, and finally a pic of a Dildo sign (after much soul searching) just to make some folks in BC blush when I get back.
BTW, first time I heard Thole Pins (the little rods which keep the oars in place on a row boat) called Dildos, but different strokes I guess (see what I did there?).
Anyway, great ride, my GT still the wonder bike it always was... it's rider not so much.
After a two hour visit I knew I'd barely scratched the surface with Mike and Sarah. Hopefully longer next time... get CBC or Tourism Nl & Lab or some 'home and garden' show or something out there to show off your place guys, seriously!
Pics (just thumbnails for the 'foot print conscious' amongst ya... see what I did, again? LOL)
Took a spin to Bonavista yesterday on the GSA to meet up with my Aussie friends. Showed off the lighthouse, the Dungeons, Spillars Cove and Elliston before meeting up with my girl and spending the evening socializing.
Rode down to Bobs this morning and bummed up some coffee and had a yarn. Went into Clarenville for a lunch with my girl while Bob kept the bike dry in his shed. After we came back his wife checked the radar and gave me the go ahead to scoot in the road to town. Dry and comfy all the way in. Thanks for everything
Great to see you Bob, thanks for coming by it's been too long! Get the wife on the go and come out for a night or two.
My other little surprise took a left turn at the shop yesterday so still no go.
Haven't ridden my Africa Twin much recently since getting the MB5 back on the road. I did ride it to work this morning though but kept smelling two stroke oil. The smell must have soaked into my helmet and jacket from riding the MB5 so much. Not complaining though, nice to be riding a bike again that actually has a scent.
Certainly better smelling than Axe. The smell of WD40 actually makes me smile.
