I've always been under the impression that gauntlet gloves provided more protection, and blocked wind up the sleeve, while short gloves stopped rain from going down your sleeves and into your glove (or so I'm told because I always felt, just go faster). Maybe short gloves are better. Is anyone out there familiar with riding with both styles? What's your thoughts?

Short gloves in the summer. Long gloves in the winter. Same thing with chest hair!

I have both but wear my gauntlets 90% of the time. I really only use my short ones when its really warm (that one week in July :p ) or when I'm riding the MB5. I find the gauntlets much much warmer and comfortable and feel safer wearing them compared to the short ones.

I have worn through the leather on a couple of pairs of gauntlets and use them most of the year but always have a pair of shorties for the hot days that allow the flow of air up the sleeves.
Downside to this is wasps. I have been stung so many times on the forearms I have developed a slight allergy to the little bastards and my forearms swell at the bite area.
