We pulled in to Grand falls for Gas and a snack around 5:00 then on to Buchan's.
When we tried to get a room at The Red Ochre, they were full! Red Ochre Merv put us up in the Tea Cup.
It seems Merv owns a bunch of houses around town and "The Tea Cup" is one of them. It is as wide as you see in the pic. Also it has a slope in the floor that is only straightened out by several fingers of rum. The crapper is quite comfy with 10 degrees of list!
We had supper that night at The Boardwalk Bistro. The name sounds a bit gay but the food is awesome. Reasonably priced too. Highly recommended.
Next day we had a good old breakfast at The Red Ochre and gassed up at Colemans. The only game in town for gas so it seems. There is a single pump on the side of the building with no windows. They reset the pump from inside and hope you come in and pay. There is no choice of premium or regular.......just gas. I like that.
We got general directions to get to the road around the lake, but ended up taking a 10 k woods road to nowhere that dead ended. No big deal as we were here to ride and it was part of the adventure. Plus it was a good time to air down.
A little farther down the main road we found it and i was pleased.

This looked higher from up there. Pretty spectacular scenery.
So, those who have done this ride may have noticed that we have strayed onto the Abitibi Road. We missed the left down to the bridge and ended up on the road to Burgeo. Th sign says 96 k to Burgeo. I suggest fish and chips in Burgeo. We air'em up and off we go.
The wind was Friggen wicked on the way down. Sometimes it felt like a 45 degree lean to stay on the road. It was the first time i ever took a turn leaning the wrong way and making it!
A nice run all the same.
We chowed down on fee and chee at joys.....good eaten. Gassed up and headed out.
( Burgeo deserves more than a stop and go. It's a well kept outport community. I am putting it on the list as its own destination deserving of a closer look. The road is also spectacular. The first 50 k is hills and trees and water and great views. The next hundred k is unreal. The landscape if flat and far and wide with gigantic rock outcrops everywhere. Hard to describe. Go see it yourself. you won't be dissapointed. )
From here we decided on Stephenville. Why?.......Why not.
Head down and giver. We got into Stephenville around 6ish. A nice neat town with a Canadian Tire. (We needed oil).
Pretty cool driving across the old airbase with the hangers......ya, no pics i know.
While we were in his neck of the woods, Digger gave Delboy a call and we went for a coffee. It was nice to put a face with the name. Good to meet you Delboy.
Next morning, we headed to do the Port aux Port peninsula. A nice run but shitty weather. Wet, cold and windy. But hey, beats working.
Made it to the Cape.
And the obligatory wharf pic. (Couldn't get up on the top level, this will have to do.)
These facades were on the elementary school. Pretty cool I think.
