This year the country is celebrating 150 years by handing out FREE passes to anyone wishing to travel to our national parks. I just ordered mine online and though I am sure it will be a crowded summer because of the promotion I hope touse it in my travels this season. I have usually shied away from camping (legally)in the parks because of the costs of permits/campgrounds/entry fees. Maybe this will take some sting out of the gate.
Only free thing I have ever gotten that I did not like was a kick in the arse once.

The U.S. just celebrated the 100th Anniversary of it's National Parks this year by raising the cost of the annual pass.
Welcome to the Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave"! :p

The campground fees are still to be incurred but those are standard for any campground. It was the pass on top of them that always threw me off.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Parks Canada free pass. I always found the park entrance fee to be a major irritant on top of campsite fees - especially since I was not really spending time using the other park facilities while on a motorcycle trip. I expect to make good use of this pass next season.

Did anyone who has ordered the pass get an email confirmation? I ordered mine yesterday - perhaps it is not an automated response and I will have to wait for a business day to hear back.

I just ordered my pass. It's the camping fees that keep me from staying there. I stay @ the provincial parks mostly ($9USD) with my senior discount and seasonal pass I'm livin large !

Nine days later and no email confirmation from Parks Canada. Will send them an email and see what's up. I bet that they have been swamped with requests and while I might expect to have the mail-out delayed, I would have expected that email confirmation would be automated. We'll see what happens.
