My KLX has been notorious for blowing the taillight bulb on the lower brightness filament, probably due to the fact it's constantly on and rough trails. So I decided to try a led replacement bulb for the original 1157. Ordered one from eBay for a couple bucks... Took a month or so to get it... China isn't exactly local. Here's what it looks like:

As you can see, the difference in brightness between braking isn't as great with the led. Seems as though the led is a bit brighter with just taillight illuminated tho.
In a lot of driving in traffic I don't think I would be overly comfortable with the smaller difference in brightness when braking. But since the KLX is mostly trail driven, I am happy with it. Hopefully I get much longer out of this bulb than the original style.
