    Looking forward to it Mike.
Meanwhile it's not just the plans and rides of course.... there's the bikes, the routes, the gear, the kitchen pass, the vacation time, the budget, the reservations, the wonders etc.
And if you cross borders there's the passports, the international driving permits, maybe visas, carnets de passage, TIVPs, insurances etc. which hopefully Inmates with international riding experience will flesh out for us.
Oh mies the work the work! Is it worth it a'tall?

As you know I was invited to ride Siberia/Mongolia/stans but obviously that didn't happen. There would have been a bunch planning in place for that. When I rode the Rally Mongolia I rented a local bike so no import issues there. But there definitely were vaccinations etc involved.

Right... vaccinations. Timely topic. I know you did a radio interview about Mongolia but would you post us a link if you did a write up elsewhere.
Also any comments on your bike choice/gear/maintenance/insurances/documentation/travel visas/commuications/navigation/vaccinations/health issues/for your planned Siberia/Mongolia/Stans ride would be interesting too.
You can't exactly just grab a Smith's sammich and head there for a day ride can ya?

Apparently "...studies have shown.." that planning things helps keep hope and dreams alive during difficult times. That's all the encouragement I need to get out for rides, do a little travel, maybe some camping. Burn off that tank of winter gas, do some maintenance, get the old muscle memory fired back up etc. Late start to the season tho, gotta say...
Earlier the winter we were planning a ride to Yellowknife in June before heading home. There's micro breweries, good camping, lots of local attractions and of course everything there would be new and different to us. Best we can hope for now is a day trip with a picnic lunch which is fine but I'm happy with that because it keeps me looking forward to a longer ride somewhere. And it's the looking forward part that's important for me right now because I can't really do squat.
Personally I've been tied up lately trying my hand at a little carpentry work, building some cubbies and a few more odds and ends for my son's mudroom.
Also there's a forge I've been in contact with about their axes. I need to get one for my brother as he likes axes but he has all the respectable brand name ones so this will be a "one of". They're open by appointment only now so I have an appointment for July 30th to check out their axe selection. If I get one I'll post a pic in the Gear thread, along with my BackRoads Map Book and related mini SD for the Garmin. Local folks swear by that combo and most folks I've met off road have one or both with them.
I know we're saving some money by not being able to travel much this summer, plus less wear and tear on bikes, gear, bodies etc. so there is that. But, I am really looking forward to things either getting back to "normal" or figuring out what our "new normal" is and making plans for that.
