Only my second one (flat on the front last year), a D606 for the rear on my husaberg...

Holy hell it took me 2 hours and more cursing than the new trailer park boys SwearNet movie!! :)

Documenting a little here for future use!

Note that i used lots of soapy water/windex throughout and baby powder on the tube

  • I had no trouble breaking the bead (these are great tools - Motion Pro BeadPro Tire Bead Breaker and Lever Tool Set - http://bit.ly/1reWjmd)
  • I had some issues getting the first bead off the old tire - didn't deflate the tube enough.
  • I had some issues getting the second bead off off the old tire (a pattern is developing!!) - i was trying to use the irons to much... Just used 1 to get a good bite out of it, then just used my hands to force it off.
  • Clean up the wheel, get the tube ready
  • First bead of the new tire goes on with only minor issues, or so i thought @ first... seems i managed to jam the bead lock somehow. I screwed with it for 20 minutes trying to make it work not wanting to have to take the tire fully off. In the end I had to :(
  • new tire comes off fairly easy, but using hands to force it off is WAY more difficult with giant knobs instead of worn down nubs :) Lots of pinching as the
  • Rim lock sorted, new tire goes on first bead pretty easy
  • Tube goes in with minor hassles until i realize i can't for the life of me get the bloody valve stem in. fight fight fight, no luck. Pull the tube again, valve stem goes in first, lots more fighting to line it up. have to use pliers to pull it into position from the opp. side
  • Second bead goes on without much hassle.
  • PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET ME NOT HAVE PINCHED THE TUBE!!!!

I bet i wasted an hour or more fighting with the rim lock/taking the tire back off and fighting with the valve stem. I was ready to throw it all in the car and drop it off @ a shop to do :) Perhaps i'll give it a few more tries!

feels good to have it done though - assuming the bloody thing isn't flat when I go out tomorrow and get ready to swap out the supermoto wheels back to the dirt setup!

Hope everyone else has a easier time @ this stuff :)
