Cold feet

Well, a lot has happened this week. I sold my Ruckus and my C70. I considered keeping the Passport but then figured why, so I can look at it? Besides, my Miata needs new tires and a new timing belt. I needed the cash.

Regarding the Helix, I backed out. It was a 28 year old scooter that hadn't been ridden in years. The asking price plus shipping plus new parts made me reconsider the wisdom in this. I lost my $100 deposit but in the end think I made the right move.

I have been considering a wide variety of replacement bikes this week. I nearly pulled the trigger on an 04 Ninja 500R in Victoria (seller is asking $2000 for it). Nice deal for anyone looking for a nice mid-sized, bullet-proof street bike. I slept on it then woke up to realize: I'm the scooter king, the scooter king rides a scooter! At lunch time I came across a sweet deal on a Vino125: 2007, garage kept, 1900 kms, new battery and bike cover, $1000. The problem, it's in Calgary. I called Five Star Movers and they just happen to be in Calgary tonight. $500 will get it to NL. Heck, I was going to pay that to get the Helix here from Ontario. Sold. I bought it then and there.

I realize paying 50% more just to ship it seems crazy. But then try finding a near new Vino125 in St. John's for $1500. I'm sure they pop up from time to time but this seemed like a good deal. These things new were in the 3's for sure. If nothing else I'm supporting a local moving company.

Some pics. The last one is just to give perspective of the size (relative to a rider). It may not be the most powerful scoot in the world but it's a step up from what I had.

Maybe someone else can buy the Helix
