While I tend to shop local stores, I've got to agree with this: local stores are quick to preach supporting the local guy, but it's rarely quid pro quo.

I agree 100%, I can't even get the local guys to answer the phone and when I go in they are sorry but can't help. Shag that I will be ordering everything online if the cost is the same and I don't have to wait a ridiculously long time.

One local shop I bought a jacket and pants, a helmet, gloves, chain and sprockets. Good local support right? Then one day I asked to have a tire installed....and the first question out of his mouth was "did you buy the tire from us?" And as soon as I said no, he quickly "responded with $70 plus tax." Just to install one tire on a rim (no bike)!

Another time I ordered valve shims. I was working for the week, so I wasn't in a big rush....but after a week I went there to pick them up and they said they were having trouble getting them. I left the store and called Twisted Throttle from the parking lot.....and 11am the following day the UPS was at my door with the envelope!

Another local shop said point blank, if you don't buy the tire from them, that they will not install it at any cost.
