    Long way to Lomond

Thanks for the info and maps Fortech. The Corner Brook area roads looked pretty good but the Daniels Hr road to Hawkes Bay looked poor/non existant as it went north. Glad to have eyes on the ground in that area before. The last time i was there was 1986, less roads then :) This is our 3rd year...

    Long way to Lomond

Thanks for the info ProZac. Looking at the maps, there's a lot of branches to the road and some areas look like they haven't been used in a long time. I'll be taking 4 KLRs over there in June but i'm taking my GPS and map set with me to cut down on the dead ends. There's another spot between...

What did you do to your bike today?

I don't know how common it is. Mine and several others I ride with have never had any issue. Installed Oxford heated grips on the wife's CBR 250 this past weekend. Easy install and man... Testing them out gets me thinking that a set could be mighty handy in November on my own bike.

What did you do to your bike today?

From what I have read the 2008 model had a new set of rings, and then in 2009 changed again. Perhaps they seen an issue. However the 2008 model that were checking the valve shims on has 17,000 kms and top end is in factory condition. He bought it just before Christmas and have yet to ride it. He...

What did you do to your bike today?

I hear ya. My 2007 KLR doesn't burn much oil, nor does my buddies 1995 KLR, but I have noticed that once you break the 105 kph mark the oil consumption shoots up. The 2008's however has had a string of mysterious failures about the same issue. A search digs up many identical cases of this...

Removed damaged engine from a friends 2008 KLR 650 (4500 kms) Damaged in a low oil situation and cooked the cylinder head. Practically welded the exhaust Cam onto the journals. Sad affair. Looks like there's a parts order in store for him. On another friends KLR now has the valve cover off and...
