    IT Steves son Patrick

I never met IT Steve but I do recall that time period on RTR and have read the warm words everyone have written over the years. Even though I have no personal connection, I can’t help but to feel a sense of admiration for Patrick and am certain his father is smiling from above.

    St Pierre

Correct. Watched the very same scenario the other night on an episode of “On her bike”. Do they check vehicles as they board I wonder to ensure adequate coverage? Some provinces even mandate insurance on all off road vehicles And I understand you can be heavily fines without, enforceable by...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I do the silicone pour over with filter. Tried the stainless steel mesh filter type but cleanup was a pain.

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I try to take some fresh food for the first 24-48 hrs on the road. My go to includes pre-sliced bell peppers, onions, precooked chicken breast and rice for some stir fry on the first night at camp. A couple of frozen homemade hamburger patty’s and buns may accompany for night #2 depending on...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

Camp towels are the worst. Literally one of my least favourite camping items throughout the years.

    Tars

I’ve been running Mitas E07 for the past 10 years or so with a set of TKC80 mixed in here and there. I will need another set of something before end of summer and have been tossing around the idea of the Dunlop‘s as well. The Mitas served me well on the Super Tenere however not getting as many...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I have several coworkers who make their own dehydrated meals, package in Zip Loc bags and rehydrate at camp whenever. I never bothered with the process as like you, I’d rather just stop somewhere and make a meal from a can Once stopped for the day. An oatmeal packet in the AM, a stop midday at...

    USA to Canada Shipping

Thanks everyone, buying an exhaust for the KTM however the owner would prefer to ship with UPS. I have convinced them otherwise however it will be a few extra days before he can get to a Post Office versus a UPS depot (or maybe scheduled pick up?). And I agree Hunterson, shipping has gone...

    USA to Canada Shipping

A quick question to ensure my traditional thoughts regarding purchases in the US and shipping to Canada are not out of date. On multiple occasions I have had unfavourable luck bringing items into Canada with DHL, UPS, FEDEX, etc. For the better part of the last 15 yrs I have requested USPS...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I always carry at least 2 bear sprays in the event I find myself with an immobile bike in the BC backcountry. Been looking at ultra short 12 ha backpacking guns for the past year or so but haven’t found anything that has satisfied my wants regarding price/weight/quality. East to find 2 sides...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I consider myself a bit of a gear whore and don’t mind spending a few extra $$$ for quality and longevity. Dresda, I’ve been doing laundry on the road in a dry bag for awhile now. Works really well. A clothesline is usually one of the first things I hang at a campsite. I stick to lightweight...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

You can refill the isobutane canisters however it isn’t a major savings and if you aren’t careful, a little dangerous. Super easy to refill with butane, a little more complicated to refill with the proper mix of propane and butane but still doable.

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

White gas is absurdly expensive! I believe WalMart is currently the cheapest for Coleman brand at around $28 for a gallon. For awhile last year Cdn Tire and Home Hardware jumped to around the $45 mark. Does anyone know where to buy Napha in bulk? Kerosene is also getting up there in price...

Camping Gear - What works, what don't?

I use Isobutane when camping on the bike, the Optimus Crux Weekender set. The stove and the canister fits nicely inside the pot and is I believe, smaller than a Jetboil system. Downside is the pot is limiting at 6-700ml (can’t remember exact volume). Bin enough for me and the Mrs tho and...

In my opinion you can’t go wrong with Yamaha. A friend had a 2 seater Wolverine and loved it.

    Multipurpose gear

How do you like the Induction? I was thinking of picking one up for awhile now. Last year I hit snow and 4 degrees near Grand Cache on my way to Banff. Next day in Banff was 32 degrees. So hard to remain comfortable in such conditions. At temps above 28 degrees I begin to struggle.

What did you do to your bike today?

I use my center stand always. Only throughout the day during riding do I use the side stand. Upon arriving back home or at the campsite, the center stand goes down.
