I have a RallZ front and a TKC rear to start the year this year, last year used MT21/D908 combo twice, mixing is ok Tire choice is about what you want to do with the bike, I prefer the nobbier tires for the T7 because I want it better offroad - that's where I use it the most. Really depends...

I tend not to wear tires to the bitter end as well can't fault him for leaving some meat on the bone, and likewise I don't spoon tires on, always get a deal on the install but i bring my wheels in. $25 bux install and balance is worth the flesh on my knuckles, avoid the blood sacrifice to...

I’ve been running Mitas E07 for the past 10 years or so with a set of TKC80 mixed in here and there. I will need another set of something before end of summer and have been tossing around the idea of the Dunlop‘s as well. The Mitas served me well on the Super Tenere however not getting as many...

Went for a ride today...never ending hi-jack thread

Not a major tire brand. Just something I saw on the internet - think they might be for an electric scooter. Some people do put snow tires on small (gas) scooters and use them in the winter. Can't say that I would be tempted. And then there are the guys that do motorcycle ice racing...

Are they the TKC with studs home-installed?

Dare I start a Tire Thread?

Thanks for the post @Trash. I, and possibly you, can remember when 'recaps' purchased 'on sale' to unsuspecting buyers often delaminated at speed with surprising results. I've never quite trusted the tire industry since then even though I'm sure their technology is constantly evolving. The...

Dare I start a Tire Thread?

I am considering an Alaska/NWT/PNW trip for 2024. The plan was to ride to Whitehorse on street tires, swap to something more suitable for dirt and maybe swap back before heading home. The trip could end out well over 25,000 km and, under ideal conditions, the Trailmax Missions might do the...

Dare I start a Tire Thread?

It all depends how you use and maintain your tires, but I would suspect that both the lighter weight and lesser HP of your F700GS will result in longer tread life. I averaged 10,000+ miles per set of Continental TKC-70 tires on my previous R1200GS when used in the eastern U.S. I currently have...

Dare I start a Tire Thread?

You can find all of that information on the Manufacturers' website for each particular tire you are interested in, Bob. In my personal experience, I've never had to worry too much about those ratings when purchasing tires from established brands like Dunlop, Continental, Michelin, etc., as they...

Dare I start a Tire Thread?

I have now accumulated almost 7,000 miles (11,000 km) of mixed riding on my Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires, so I decided to check the tread depth on the rear tire, so I could compare it to the new rear tire I just purchased as a replacement. To my surprise, there's still 10/32 of trade remaining...

Dare I start a Tire Thread?

No rebate. We bought these tires and set of TKC80s for Stephanie's DR in January 2022, to avoid the rush. And you're right - will they last as long as the Heidenau? Time will tell. I already have a Trailmax on the front, but it hasn't been on there long enough to come to any conclusions. But I...

The 2021 KTM 390 Adventure Accessories Thread

As Bob mentioned, it's a tough thermoplastic. It's mounts are steel plates that get pinched by the axle and nut, which is sturdier than the GS arrangement, but probably weighs a lot less than my top box. As far as weight is concerned, I would guess that all the accessories have added probably...

Yeah, I think all of my TKC80 and t63’s cracked like that.

    Recall on TKC80s

Back in the day when I ran Michelin T63 on the KLR I used to get similar cracks, some even larger. I think it’s just stress cracking on the lug as the tires get older and the rubber dries out from use.

    Recall on TKC80s

You should probably send them that photo, and they might up expanding the recall. I suspect that knobbly tires are going to be a lot harder to get once this recall gets rolling...
