Where Are All The Electrics?

I was recently watching a YouTube review of an electric motorcycle and it got me wondering why are the majority of electric motorcycles all being produced by small independant start-up type companies. With the exception of Harley Davidson, all the other large motorcycle manufacturers haven't decided to enter the market at all with street bikes. You'd think Harley would be the last company to enter this field but they are the ones actually leading the charge (I know, bad pun). There are a few electric dirt bikes but no real major company is doing a regular street type bike, really find it strange. Do they know something that we don't? Just not interested? Price still too high to consider? Or maybe they do produce them but just not in North America? With cars all the manufacturers either have one, a hybrid or one on the way. At least there seems to be some interest there. The Zero brand has been around for a few years now and you'd think a major manufacturer would see this as a sign that there was some market there. Or do they just know that motorcyclists just don't care for electric bikes? You'd think with some of the large companies and the resources they have on hand, especially ones that have a car branch, that to produce an electric bike would be pretty simple and they'd have at least one in their lineup just to test how they'd sell. Thoughts?

Don't know why I gave this any thought, maybe being home now for two weeks is affecting me to much :)
