Motorcycle Registrations

I was researching the number of motorcycles registered in Canada vs. the U.S., and was interested in the disparity. In 2016, there were a total of 716,264 motorcycles registered in Canada, of which 15,554 were domiciled in Newfoundland and Labrador, 18,594 in Nova Scotia, and 21,284 in New Brunswick.

The most recent year I could find U.S. registrations was 2013, at which time the total was 8,417,000. My home state of Wisconsin had approximately 342,000 motorcycles registered. The most interesting statistic I found regarding U.S. registrations, was the per capita comparison. Taking total population out of the equation, the top three states in order for bikes per capita were South Dakota, New Hampshire, and Iowa, all Northern tier States. Although I can attest to the allure of some great roads in SD and NH, the IA thing is a head scratcher.

On a related note, the average miles accumulated per bike per year in the U.S. hovers around 1,800. (2,916km)
